After making an announcement few days back that MP’s Satna district students will answer the roll call by saying Jai Hind instead of Yes Sir or Yes Ma’am from October 1, School Education minister Vijay Shah has come up with another instruction. On Friday, he asked madrassas in the state to hoist the national flag and sing national anthem daily. Commenting at the Foundation Day celebrations at the Madhya Pradesh Madrasa Board, he claimed that doing so would inculcate patriotism among students.

He also stated that apart from religious education, children studying in madrasas should be imparted primary education.  He said that they will soon be introducing computer education in madrassas.

Muslim community being asked to proved their patriotism?

As per HT report, MP Muslim Vikas Parishad president Mohd Mahir also voiced his protest, asking why such a practice should be enforced on madrassas when it is not present even at government schools.

“I fail to understand why the state government keeps asking the Muslim community to prove its patriotism,” he said. “Muslims are citizens of the country. They take part in the election process. They cast votes. They contest elections. They pay taxes. They do everything a citizen of the country should do. But orders like these are issued to create divisions in society.”

Madrasa Board chairman Sayyed Imadduddin said the institutions would be trained in the do’s and don’ts of hoisting the Tricolour before the order is implemented.

No differentiation on religious grounds

CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan was also present at that occasion and said that apart from religious education, the present times require modern education as well. He claimed that state government never differentiated on religious grounds when it comes to welfare of the nation. He also announced that his government will double the grant given to madrasas.

Madrassas and students were also felicitated for their meritorious performance.
