Lenovo India has announced that it sold 1 million 4G-enabled Lenovo A6000, A6000 Plus, and A7000 smartphones in India via Flipkart this year till June 2015.The firm attributes the reason for the success to be that the three 4G smartphones fit the market requirement well. While considering majority of regions are yet to gain 4G network access, the company added “performance and usability along with unique aspects like Dolby Atmos made the product offerings very attractive.”

To recall, Lenovo’s A6000 4G-enabled smartphone was launched first in India and went up for sale in January. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the Lenovo A6000 significantly undercut the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G – which was then selling at Rs. 9,999 – and Micromax’s Yu Yureka – priced at Rs. 8,999.

The Lenovo A7000 smartphone was launched next in mid-April at Rs. 8,999. Lastly, theLenovo A6000 Plus smartphone was launched in India late April. Priced at Rs. 7,499, the smartphone garnered great interest from consumers like the A6000.

The three smartphones from Lenovo supported 4G LTE networks FDD Band 3 and TDD Band 40 in India.

Commenting on the milestone, Sudhin Mathur, Director, Lenovo smartphones said, “As a technology first company, Lenovo continues to push the market threshold for newer devices. Apart from providing great devices, our partnership with Flipkart gave consumers in more than 1000 cities/ towns across the countries access to our 4G smartphone portfolio. Beyond the metros, we’ve seen also seen a good uptake in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh”.

The Chinese company earlier this week started sending press invites for the launch of a new Note device on June 25. The company is widely expected to launch the K3 Note, another smartphone supporting 4G LTE, in India.
