Students who are aspiring to pursue a career in the field of engineering are often under the assumption that the JEE exam is one of the toughest exams to crack. Moreover, they feel that the exam gets harder every year. While the exam is a challenging and competitive one, it is not always true or right to say that JEE is very difficult to clear. JEE which consists of JEE Main and JEE Advanced can be easy to pass if candidates prepare well. They just need to get the basics right, follow proper guidelines and have the confidence to use the best of their abilities.
Having said that, to help aspiring candidates have a deeper insight into the exam and the difficulty level. we will take the 2019 JEE Main paper and analyze it. We will discuss the paper section wise and understand the overall nature of the exam. The exam is held in two sessions in the month of January and April. It is conducted in an online mode and candidates are mostly asked multiple choice questions where four options are provided as probable answers. The exam is of three-hour duration and candidates have to choose or mark the correct answer and submit the test paper with the given time. Let’s get into the analysis below.
Physics
The physics section in JEE Main 2019 is normally said to be the toughest of the three sections. As usual, the questions were mainly numerical based and required more logical and reasoning skills. The questions were allotted a total of 30 marks and questions were set from topics like thermodynamics, SHM, waves, optics, mechanics, relative motion amongst others. The paper also consisted of tricky and formula-based questions where candidates had to take some time to answer the questions. For physics, candidates need to understand both the basic and advanced concepts as well as the formulas clearly.
Maths
Mathematics is one section which always has mixed reviews. The questions asked in this section usually ranges from moderate to difficult level. Candidates normally take more time to answer this section completely as compared to the other sections. In 2019, the questions were mainly based on topics such as coordinate and 3d geometry, calculus, trigonometry, mathematical reasoning, probability and statistics. The overall difficulty was on a moderate level. For maths, it is all about practice and it is the only way that candidates can develop better math problem skills or fluency.
Chemistry
Chemistry is the easiest section in comparison to maths and physics. Normally, candidates will find questions that are direct and based on the NCERT syllabus. Candidates can score good marks in this section. In 2019 paper, chemistry section contained straightforward questions. Questions were well balanced between organic and inorganic as well as physical chemistry. Some of the important topics include p-block elements, bonding, coordination compounds, hydrolysis, thermodynamics, etc.
Students who do well in this section have a greater chance to excel in the exam. For chemistry, candidates should just avoid rote learning and they should focus on reading the NCERT books.
The exam has concluded for 2019 and candidates are now eagerly waiting for the results. However, the exam authorities have also released the JEE Main 2019 answer keys which can be accessed by visiting the given link. In any case, now that we have discussed the exams and papers, students should have a good idea of how it is or how it will be.
