MANILA – In a bid to fight the spread of fake news, a group of truth advocates will stage a blogging competition later this month.
Tagged the #BreaktheFake Blogathon, the contest will pit groups of three writers against each other for a chance to win P10,000.
The team which comes in second will get P5,000, and the third placer will get P3,000.
Teams joining the competition will have to write blog entries tackling the fight against fake news.
The deadline for registering for the contest has been extended to Oct. 25.

The main event will be at 9 a.m. on Oct. 28 at Solutions Space, Makati City.
The blogathon is an initiative of the Break the Fake Movement, which describes itself as “a group of young leaders from different professions and sectors.”
On its website, the group said it is committed to fighting the spread of fake news by organizing activities that would engage the public, especially the youth.
