ZTE is preparing to launch the Nubia Z11, the company’s upcoming flagship device and a follow up to the highly successful Nubia Z9.
The new flagship is slated to debut simultaneously in the U.S. and in China, with each country seeing slightly altered models of the handset. While the announcement came from Ni Fei, CEO of Nubia, there was no exact release date that was mentioned.
“Innovation never stops,” said Ni Fei. “It has been the major driving force for the development of the smartphone industry. Just two years after being founded, this imagination has allowed Nubia to become an industry pioneer in the marketplace.”
Previously at Tech Times, it was reported that the Nubia Z11 would sport a 5.2-inch display that has a pixel resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. The upcoming flagship will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and have 4 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage and a preinstalled Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
Other notable features include a bezel-less screen, metal build, 4,200 mAh Li-Ion removable battery that offers up to 589 hours of standby time, fingerprint recognition, micro USB v2.0, a 20.7 MP rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash and a 13 MP selfie camera.
“We are confident to enter the U.S. market because ZTE had already built a good foundation there,” said Ni Fei. “We are still cost-effective, but on a much higher level.”
The release of the Nubia Z11 comes after the success of the ZTE Nubia Z9, which hit the stores in June. The handset, which also features a 5.2-inch borderless display, has reportedly sold more than half a billion units globally.
“Revolution starts from imagination and the launch of the Nubia Z9 is just the beginning,” said Ni Fei. “In the future, the world will embrace a revolution of smartphone interactive technology.”
Compared to Xiaomi and Huawei, both of which enjoy popularity and dominance in China, ZTE claims that it has a strong presence not only on its homeland, but also in the U.S.
Nubia Mobile is a subsidiary of ZTE Mobile Corporation. The latter is currently the sixth biggest smartphone maker in the world based on the data released by Counterpoint Research. In terms of shipment, it is recognized as the fourth most shipped handset in the second quarter, according to Strategic Analysis. This can be attributed to sales both in the company’s homeland and in the U.S.
Details such as pricing and exact release date are yet to be disclosed. It remains to be seen if ZTE will continue its tradition of releasing its products in the U.S. that are priced around $100 to $200.
