Motorola is one of the well established telecommunication companies that have been around for quite some time now. Xiaomi launched Xiaomi Redmi 1S in May 2014, while Motorola after the success of Moto E, released another model Moto E 2nd Gen on February 2015.
Design and Display
Let’s first look at the design and display of Xiaomi Redmi 1s. This android phone has a display of 4.7 inches and weighs around 158g. Smooth and elegant, Redmi 1s has the signature design of Xiaomi phones. It boasts of an HD IPS LCD touchscreen with 16M colors. It has a resolution of 720×1280 pixels with 312 pixels per inch (PPI). The phone’s display screen has the protection of Japan’s asahi dragontrail glass which is quoted to be the latest super tough material. Xiaomi Redmi 1s is available in silver, red and black colors.
Coming to Moto E 2nd Gen, its exterior design has a hint of free touch with its really smart looks. Moto E 2 weighs only 145g and has a screen size of 4.5 inches. Like Redmi 1s, Moto E 2 also has a display type of HD IPS LCD touchscreen with 16M colors. So basically in display type there is not much different between both the android phones. Moto E 2 has a resolution of 540×960 pixels with the density of 245 pixels per inch (PPI). Like most of Motorola phones, this android phone also has the corning gorilla glass 3 when it comes to display protection screen. Moto E 2 is available in two different colors only, black and white.
Hardware and software
Apart from certain features, mobile phones efficiencies are all about hardware and the software that they have. So while, we always look for the camera or some other things, it’s the hardware and software installed that depicts the longer run and advancement. When it comes to hardware, Redmi 1s has one of highly known and efficient system of Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228. It has a processor of 1.6GHz quad-core and RAM of 1GB which is pretty good for an android phone. The software installed or the operating system in Xiaomi Redmi 1s is android OS version 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and it can be upgraded to the version 4.4 (Kitkat). The internal storage of the phone is 8GB, plus it has an external storage expandable up to 64 GB. Redmi 1s has dual mini sim and dual stand-by.
On the other hand, the hardware of Motorola’s Moto E 2 includes processor of 1.2 GHz dual-core and processor make of Qualcomm Snapdragon 200. The RAM of the phone is the standard one of 1GB similar to Redmi 1s. It has an internal storage of 8GB with an expandable external memory up to 32 GB. The operating system in Moto E2 is android OS version 5.0, version 5.1 (Lollipop), and also there is the planned version of latest OS, Marshmallow. Unlike its counterpart, Moto E2 it is a single micro-sim android phone.
Camera, Sound, Battery and other Features
So these are features or specifications that make the mobile phone more than just a calling device. In Xiaomi Redmi 1s there is both a primary camera and secondary camera. The primary camera is of 8MP with autofocus and LED flash, while the front or secondary camera is 1.6MP. It also has features like geotagging, smile/face detection, touch focus and HDR. The sound system supports MP3 and WAV ringtones. Other features include GPS, Bluetooth,Radio, WAN , hotspot and sensors like compass, accelerometers, proximity sensors and ambient light sensor. Xiaomi’s Redmi 1s has a removable battery with the battery capacity of 2000mAh.
Moto E2 also has two cameras. The primary camera is 5 MP with autofocus but it lacks flash, the secondary camera is only VGA. The camera features in Moto E 2 includes HDR, Geo-tagging and panorama. Like Redmi 1s, the sound system of Moto E 2 has MP3 and WAV ringtones. Moto E 2 doesn’t have a removable battery and its battery capacity is 2390 mAh. Different other features in this phone include Bluetooth, GPS, Radio, two sensors (Accelerometer and Proximity sensors), WLAN and Hotspot.
Price
Both Motorola’s Moto E 2nd Gen and Xiaomi’s Redmi 1s are priced at the range of INR 5,000 only, making them suitable phones for the budget category. So you can go ahead and choose any one among the both as per your convenience.
