WBJEE application forms will be available from the 1st week of January. WBJEEB will hold the registration in online mode only. Students must fill in personal and academic details to register for the exam. A stipulated application fee needs to be paid in order to complete the process.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is a state level entrance exam. Through this exam, candidates are granted admissions to UG programs in engineering, architecture, and pharmacy in West Bengal. The exam is scheduled in 4th week of April. Every year more than 1.2 lakh students appear for the exam.
Candidates often make some mistakes while filling the application form. These errors make the form liable to rejection. WBJEE Admit card will not be issued to aspirants whose forms have been rejected. In this article we have cited a few reasons why the application form may be rejected and if so, what should be done next.
WBJEE 2018 Important Dates
Applicants must know the important dates and deadlines so as to appear for the exam. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board will release all the dates regarding WBJEE shortly. Tabulated below are tentative dates for the exam:

Reasons for Application Form Rejection
There are few guidelines defined by the conducting body that one must keep in mind before filling the application form. Failing to abide by the same will result in the rejection of the form. Listed below are few major reasons for form rejection:
- Eligibility Criteria – Students must meet the standard eligibility criteria defined by the conducting body. For the ones filling the form without meeting the eligibility, there forms will be rejected.
- Incorrect Name and DOB – One must make sure to fill in all the particulars correctly. The name and date of birth of candidate should be same as mentioned on the Class 10th passing certificate.
- Invalid Photograph and Signature – It is important to scan and upload these documents as per the specifications. Also, signature in Block letters is another reason for rejection.
- Failure in Submission of Application Fee – It is important to pay the fee within stipulated timeframe. Candidates who fail to make the payment in time, their forms will not be accepted.
- Late Submission of Application Form – As per the conducting body, there will be a set time limit to fill the form. After the last date, the forms will not be accepted.
- Unavailability of Category Certificate – Candidates failing to upload their supporting category certificate, their applications will be rejected.
WBJEEB will release a list of aspirants whose applications have been rejected. Such individuals must make the necessary changes immediately. Those who fail to do so will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
How to carefully register for WBJEE?
Aspirants must fill WBJEE application form with utmost care. All the necessary documents should be uploaded while filling the form. All these documents must be in accordance to the specifications mentioned in the information brochure. WBJEE application form will be rejected if any of these images do not meet the size or format requirements.
Scanned images of the following 3 compulsory documents have to be uploaded-
- Recent, passport- sized colored Photograph
- Left Thumb Impression (LTI)
- Signature
Students must be careful while uploading these documents. They must ensure that all the files are in the prescribed format.
The form primarily consists of 3 sections- Filling of Personal & Academic details, Uploading Documents and Payment of fees. Applicants can refer to the steps mentioned below to follow the accurate Registration-
Step 1: Filling of WBJEE Application Form
- Log on to the official website of WBJEE i.e. wbjeeb.nic.in. Start the registration by clicking on ‘New Applicant’.
- Applicants will have to enter personal information and details regarding academics, course, communication and password.
- They will receive an Application Number via SMS/ email after submitting this information.
Step 2: Uploading Documents
- Candidates must upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature and left thumb impression.
- All the images should conform to the requirements specified.
- Applicants will be notified via SMS if the documents do not meet the specifications and necessary changes should be made.
- Aspirants of West Bengal can also upload additional documents like Caste, Disability, Domicile and Income certificate for reservation claims.
Step 3: Payment of Application Fee
- Next, students should pay the application fees by offline (e-Challan of Allahabad Bank) or online mode (Credit/ Debit card, Net banking).
- The application fees are INR 500 for all applicants.
- After paying the fees, individuals should take a print out of the confirmation page generated.
Editable and Uneditable particulars in Form
WBJEE application forms will be open for corrections after the application process is concluded. The correction window will be available for 2 days in the 2nd week of February. Candidates who have erred while filling the form should make the necessary changes. Only some particulars in the form can be changed. The details in the following fields can be altered:
- Change in exam type (Modification to ‘C’ type will need additional payment of INR 100 for which applicants must approach the Board)
- Changes in category i.e. OP (general) to SC/ ST/ OBC by uploading category certificate
- Changes in uploaded documents (if not as per specifications mentioned in brochure)
- Any change from PWD= NO to YES
- Any change of domicile from ‘Other State’ to ‘West Bengal’
- Any change of income category to < 2.5 Lakh
The basic personal details cannot be edited. The uneditable particulars in the form are:
- Candidate’s Name
- Mother’s Name
- Father’s Name
- Date of Birth
Documents and Specifications
The scanned images of documents and certificates should be in the prescribed size and format. The specifications are as follows:

Essential features of the Photograph:
- Photograph must be taken on or after December 1, 2017.
- Low quality photograph taken by mobile phones or self composed portraits will not be accepted.
- Background of the photograph should be of light color.
- Candidate’s face should occupy at least 50% of the entire photograph.
- Spectacles of dark or tinted glasses are not permitted.
- Copy of same photograph should be produced at the exam center.
