Indo-Japanese car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the next-generation 2018 Ertiga in India by August next year, as reported by Autocar India. Internally codenamed as the ‘Maruti YHA’, the company has already started testing the car in India. Recently, the first every spy images of the new Maruti MPV (next-gen Ertiga) were spied in Delhi NCR, while new spy images have been spotted this week. Based on the spy images, IAB have come up with an initial rendering of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will most probably be based on the lightweight HEARTECT platform. Looking at the spy images, it seems that the MPV will be longer and wider in dimensions. The car will get longer rear overhangs, which should result in better legroom from the third-row passengers. Also on offer will be more usable boot space capacity. It is too early to talk about interior space or features on offer, but knowing new generation Maruti Suzuki cars; there shouldn’t be an issue in these departments. According to the report, Maruti Suzuki will equip the new Ertiga with the same 1.4-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine options. That said, the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine is said to be in the final stages of testing and will be introduced later on the MPV. Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, there is no word on the availability of any automatic transmission. The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will compete against the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV.
