Better mental health: Royals hear how single phone call saved ambulanceman’s life

William and Kate listen to DanDan told them his story at a reception held to mark World Mental Health Day by Heads Together, the Duke and Duchess’s mental health charity.Dan was struggling to cope after a call-out to a child abuse victim.

He contacted work partner Rich Morton and they had a heart to heart, which helped Dan, 31, conquer his demons. “I was getting myself into a deeper hole day by day,” recalls Dan, who serves with Rich in Blackpool.

“That conversation probably saved my life.”Rich’s support led to Dan seeing a GP and being given counselling for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
